Considerable progress has been made in increasing the prevalence of mothers receiving at least
four ANC visits in the lowest quintile. As a result, there has been a significant narrowing of
the gaps between these two quintiles. This positive development reflects an improvement in
maternal healthcare equity and highlights the efforts to bridge the disparities between
socioeconomic groups in accessing essential prenatal services.

Significant progress has been achieved in increasing the prevalence of
mothers receiving at least four ANC visits during their pregnancy in
marginalized communities, with a notable increase of 10 percentage
points between 2017 to 2022. In comparison, the Brahmin and Chhetri
communities have made progress, of just 1 percentage point. As a result,
the gap between these two groups has closed, indicating positive strides
towards improving maternal healthcare access and equity among different communities.

Between 2017 and 2022, the hill region showed remarkable progress in
improving maternal healthcare, with an impressive 11 percentage point
increase in the prevalence of mothers receiving at least four ANC visits
during their pregnancy. The mountain region remained constant at 83%, while
the terai region saw a 2 percentage point decrease in ANC visits. As a
result of these divergent trends, the gap between the three agro-ecological
zones has widened.
