USAID’s Suaahara II Good Nutrition Program (2016 -2023) is an integrated program dedicated to improving the health and nutrition of children and mothers of children who fall within the 1000 days period, i.e. from conception until a child reaches 24 months of age. This period is recognized as the crucial time frame during which nutritional interventions have optimal impact on child growth and development.
The project was designed in consultation with the Government of Nepal and other stakeholders and contributed towards achieving the goals set by Nepal’s MultiSector Nutrition Plan. In selected districts, Suaahara II supported the Government of Nepal in expanding health and nutrition services targeted to adolescents.
In particular, the project addressed anaemia, reproductive health, menstrual hygiene, food diversity, health service utilization and social attitudes towards delayed marriage.
